Lampert Residence Addition, Ann Arbor, MI Completed - May, 1998 |
|
Seymour and Sarah Lampert desired an addition providing barrier free access for a new Master Bedroom Suite. One enters this new wing off of the existing Living Room. Access to the exterior was kept via a new screened in porch. A vaulted Hallway provides access to the new Laundry and a Computer Room to the south and the Master Bedroom Suite to the north. The cathedral ceiling with exposed wood beams found in the Living Room is repeated in the spacious New Bedroom with Walk-in Closet and wheel chair accessible Bathroom. |
The Lampert Addition was cut into ground sloping to the east. It was constructed over a deep crawl space to provide fall for the plumbing connection into the basement and for extending ductwork from the existing furnace. It uses 2x6 wall construction for energy efficiency. The exterior materials where chosen to match existing including the face brick which wraps around the addition at window sill height. Other 1950's design devices such as asymmetrical low roof pitches with large overhangs were incorporated into the new addition for successful continuity. |
