Riding the Carousel - Simple Fun from the Past
|
On each side of the square base structure are three 10'x16' wooden garage doors, with windows, which are raised in good weather for an open air experience. When closed the doors provide a weather tight shelter for equipment and occupants. Exterior detailing is in keeping with the historic character of the surrounding buildings. |
The building uses laminated timber construction designed and provided by Timber Systems of Mason, Michigan. Eight laminated wood columns arise from within the building's square base curving gracefully upward to form the clerestory and join at the roof peak. An eight sided wooden cupola tops off the roof. The building is provided with an energy efficient lighting system for those rare occasions when daylight is insufficient and also to aid in the maintenance and cleaning of the Pavilion. |
